When you shop for home theatre systems, you might find that the process is similar to shopping for a car. There are certain classes of vehicles which are good for some people and likewise, there are speaker systems that fall in different categories. When you look at the Yamaha NS-SP1800BL system, you are looking at what is known as an entry level speaker system. That is not to say that it lacks quality, though. It’s entry level in that there are certain systems out there that outclass it a little bit.
The system features 5.1 channel audio, which means you will get the power of five surround sound speakers and a deep sub-woofer to provide bass. One of the interesting things about this system, especially when compared to earlier systems and its contemporary competitors, is that the Yamaha NS-SP1800BL has a wide range of frequencies supported. It can provide sound at anywhere from 28 Mhz to 50 Mhz.
Within the four speaker configuration, you will get four satellite speakers to provide the sound range necessary for enjoying both music and movies at the highest level possible. These feature two-way acoustic suspension technology, an absolute must in today’s home theatre market. This is a really strong feature for those people who are trying to enjoy music in their home. The sub-woofer features 50 watts out output power, which means it will provide the thump to make it seem as if you are watching a movie right in the theatre.
System Pros
One of the pros of this system is undoubtedly its balance. This system brings a tremendous amount of sound quality from all angles, and has serious capability in all of its components. Because of that, it’s a system that can provide the full sound experience that people expect when they spend money on a nice system of this kind.
One would be remiss if they did not mention the price as another part of the pros of this system. The Yamaha NS-SP1800BL, as an entry level class system, is very affordable and brings a lot of value for the price that it brings.
This system is a favorite of many individuals because it is easily mountable if that’s what you’re trying to do. Many people like to put their speakers in the upper corners of their living room, so that they are out of sight, but not out of hearing range. These speakers are made to be mounted, so to speak, so that gives you a measure of flexibility in terms of what you want to do with the configuration of the system. Likewise, they also perform well when they are not mounted.
System Cons
This system provides nothing really outstanding, though it does everything good. You won’t get the new age technology that goes along with some systems. This means that if you want to play music from your iPod or something of the sort, then you better be prepared to purchase an additional adapter to help accomplish this goal.
The system does not come with wireless capability, so you won’t be able to extend the system beyond one room. This system is really designed more for efficiency, and there are certainly some positives to that. What this means is that you should not be looking for much more than that, though. If you do, then you are certainly going to be disappointed because the Yamaha NS-SP1800BL is better described as “basic” than it is extraordinary.
Overall, this system is good for someone who wants to buy a nice system on a budget. It’s a starter system, so to speak, and if you like what you have then you can always upgrade to something better and potentially more expensive.
