A Yamaha home theater system is fairly hard to find. What you may come across in your searches are many of their older model complete systems, and most of their current year packages. It is some of their newer packages that I will recommend here.

High-end pick The YHT-900 5-disc DVD Yamaha Home Theater System is a 6.1 channel, feature packed option. It is not overly powerful at just 80 watts per channel. This will be adequate for small to medium size living rooms. The subwoofer is rather poweful however at 150 watts. What it does offer is exceptional capability and functionality. It exceeds all current home theater standards. The Yamaha YHT-900 plays all media formats (CD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3) and has exceptional connectivity (S-video, optical digital audio, coaxial digital audio). Mid-level pick The YHT-740 5-disc Yamaha Home Theater System. I figure this is the better value priced offer from Yamaha. It has many of the same capabilities as the more expensive YHT-900, with a lower price. Surprisingly it puts out more power than the 900 model, at 95 watts per channel, although with a slightly lesser 120 watt powered subwoofer. Good enough for even larger living rooms. It also has a 5-disc changer. Good for multi-disc movies which are becoming common nowadays. The YHT-740 Yamaha home theater system also plays CD, CD-R, CD-RW and MP3 media formats. It also has the same connectivity options as the 900 model (although fewer inputs and outputs). S-video, digital optical audio, and digital coaxial audio are included. Low-end pick I'm not going to make a low-end pick for a Yamaha home theater system. I find their lower priced options are underpowered and insufficient.
