| Editorial Reviews: | | | | The EyeTV Hybrid is the ideal solution for someone who wants both an analog and digital TV solution for the Mac in one small USB stick. With its classic matte aluminum finish and surprisingly small size for such a versatile product, the EyeTV Hybrid is a perfect complement to the Mac. It features a USB 2.0 interface for the streaming of superior quality, uncompressed TV content to your Mac. It is USB powered and therefore requires no external power supply, and contains a full-size coaxial plug. EyeTV Hybrid works with an Apple Remote. The EyeTV hardware delivers free over-the-air digital TV to your Mac via antenna, as well as analog TV via antenna and standard cable. EyeTV Hybrid also comes with a breakout cable for composite video and S-Video, enabling you to connect a set top box for premium channels, digital cable or satellite. Connect your game console and enjoy an excellent live play experience. EyeTV Hybrid's uncompressed analog video signals appear on the screen with zero latency. EyeTV Hybrid records digital TV in one quality setting, Lossless. The digital stream is recorded unaltered and so you're getting full quality digital content as encoded by the broadcaster. EyeTV supports multilingual programming and Dolby Digital sound. Analog TV can be recorded via EyeTV 2's software encoder, and the quality depends on the Mac's processor power. Find TV shows using the built-in program guide (USA only) Export clips and entire episodes to your video-capable iPod Connect game consoles - enjoy zero latency game play EyeTV Hybrid System Requirements - Macintosh with a PowerPC G4, G5 or Intel Core processor, 256 MB of physical RAM (512 MB recommended), a built-in USB 2.0 port, Mac OS X v10.4 or later, Internet connection required to download Program Guide data | |

| TV on your Macintosh computer!!! | |
| | I bought this with some misgivings, thinking I might have to return it. However, I could hardly be happier with a product!
While the included 3-connector cable doesn't match up with current Time Warner HDTV cable boxes ports, I get amazing TV on my Intel iMac!
I can't wait for the Elgato upgrade cable....(if it ever happens!)

| Device doesn't work and tech support poor | |
| | I purchased an EyeTV Hybrid for my IMAC and it didn't work at all. The device froze up when loading the setup wizard. Customer support was ineffective. There is no way to contact anyone via phone. When they did get back to me via email, the support was to remove the software and re-download it again. Obviously that didn't work. After spending hours with this device, I and my electrical engineering degree had to raise the white flag. Very frustrating experience and a big disappointment to my kids, on Xmas morning, looking forward to downloading TV content on their IPODs.

| Great product, problems with some cable providers | |
| | Pros Installation and setup was quick and easy. EyeTV offers a great interface for watching, recording, and editing (e.g. removing commercials from recorded movies). Ability to schedule recordings online through TitanTV (I have yet to test this). Works with analog and digital signal. I have tested it with both over the air digital, analog cable, and analog component input (e.g. vhs player). Says it also supports Clear QAM cable. Works great for converting old VHS tapes. Cons Antenna must be purchased separately. It is a challenge to set up channel listings and electronic program guide when you have a "non standard" cable provider. The apartment complex where I live offers a "proprietary" cable service. The provider is not listed when I type in my zip code to get program listings and the EPG guide. There may be other ways to do this but my solution has been to select a common cable provider in my area and manually map each channel to the ones from that provider. This is quite cumbersome but it works for most channels in my case. The Roxio Toast Basic that comes with the product is fairly limited in functionality. I have upgraded to Toast Titanium which, among other things, allows compression of longer movies to fit a single DVD.
All in all I'm very happy with my purchase.

| | It's not exactly the best replacement for TV on your laptop. I bought this for my Black Mac book and hoped to use it to play Gamecube and XBox 360 on it. The graphics and game just dont look as good as they would on a television screen. Simply put, if you have no other option on how to play video games away from a tv screen, this is a good option. If you have a way to take a tv screen to your dorm, then just do that. Your games will good and you'll enjoy it. On the other hand, the recording feature on this thing is pretty nifty and you'll have fun watching tv in HD. Hope this helps.

| | Very disappointed. I bought this item to get analog inputs into my computer, now I find that it isn't Quicktime compatible, so the inputs are as useless as, well, you know. I guess my bad, but I can't imagine a company marketing a video device for Mac computers that doesn't support Quicktime.
