Parrot should have eaten the whole darned thing.
I listened to the last reviewer and bought two of these also. One simply would not work at all -- we returned it. The other one would not recognize many of its own published programming codes (published 'right there' in its own little operating manual) including some which we really needed it to recognize so that we could program our brand new Toshiba 37" LCD TV (purchased on Amazon with great satisfaction --- just to prove that not all my reviews are negative). One of our neighbors was over and -- with a self proclaimed flair for "mechanisms of all kinds" (the guy is a psychiatrist) tried his own hand at programming it. After a while his face began to grow very red and his hands started to shake. My wife took the offending "mechanism" away from him and gave him a tall drink instead. I'm going to keep this thing around and bring it out whenever -- in the future -- my neighbor begins to display too much in the way of self-assurance. At thirteen bucks or so it's worth the money --- but I wouldn't buy it for any serious purpose; certainly not for the one intended.
A Great Remote for the price
This is actually my second remote of this model type. I had to buy a second one because my parrot ate all the buttons off the old one. It runs all my devices flawlessly, including my old Zenith TV that is over 16 years old. It's easy to program and operate. I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone in the market for a new multifunction remote.
