Philips PMDVR8 8-Device DVR and Audio Specialty Universal Remote Control

Price: $16.38

Editorial Reviews:
Philips Magnavox Universal Remotes let you replace a broken or lost remote or combine more than one remote into one. In addition, this remote is equipped with a command learning feature, which lets the remote learn commands from your original remote control.

Fantastic Learning remote for the Price!
5 out of 5 stars.
This is the BEST remote for the price that i have ever used. I've had it for about 2-3 years now, and have changed devices on it several times. Even this morning i changed my DVD to a Blu-ray device on it, and all the buttons work great. The Blu-ray was not in the list of devices already programmed in there, so i had to have it learn manually button-for-button. A little tedious, but it only took about 20 minutes and it works great. Defenitly worth the $15 to $25 investment.

smart remote
5 out of 5 stars.
this is a very good item, it is nice to use only one remote for all of the units that i have to work with. the learning it has built in is some kind of great. and it don't cost no 400. dollars.

Good value
3 out of 5 stars.
Pros
- Learning function works very well.
- It has all the buttons I need to control my dvr.
- You can't beat the price.

Cons
- Button layout isn't that great. I got this because I wanted to control a dvr. Unfortunately, most of the dvr buttons are at the bottom of the remote, and are not easy to reach.
- The button response is very slow. I would have given this remote 4 or 5 stars if the response time was as fast as the dvr remote from my cable company.

I probably wouldn't buy it again because of the response time, but for the price I had to give it a try.

Versatile but still not perfect
3 out of 5 stars.
Was able to program for most of my items and the learn feature works well. The response time from button push seems better than my last remote. The biggest weakness and what irritates me is that this is a "Phillips" programmable remote and there is no code for my "Phillips" DVR. I had to use the learn feature for all of the buttons.

Great value for the price!!
5 out of 5 stars.
No universal remote is perfect, but for the price this one comes very close. No, it doesn't have all the fancy bells and whistles (and headaches) of the remotes that cost 10 times as much, but it does what it is supposed to do with a minimum of fuss and muss. I've done a lot of comparison shopping, and for my money, there is no other universal remote on the market that provides as much bang for the buck as this one does for the average consumer.
