| Not a set top product- poor noise immunity | |

I purchased three of these "set top" 5V IR targets for use with a channel plus video distribution system to allow remote access to my Directv DVR's. All three would not function when attached to the side or top of three different tv's. Apparently the noise generated by the tv was propagated through the device onto the video IR channel which overwhelmed the IR signal from IR remote controls no matter how close they were to the targets. Since all of the tv's were wall mounted on swiveling stands I found that if I suspended the targets at least 6 inches below the steel stand base plates the noise was shielded enough for the IR remotes to function. The manual for the channel plus 8200 amplifier indicates that noise may be a problem for the targets but this is the only place you will find it mentioned. If I had it to do over again I would probably order the channel plus 12V IR system including targets and wall mounted interfaces. I do not know if it would perform better but guess that the higher voltage may give the system better noise immunity. Another fine Chinese product bites the dirt.

We already had one of these working in the office. Now the bedroom is operational. Couldn't have been easier.

This unit goes between your TV and your 3025 distribution amplifier. The unit works great as long as you don't have a signal splitter between the TV and the 3025 since splitters apparently cancel the signal. I took off one star because of this limitation.
Don't forget to also order the CHANNEL PLUS 2173 Single Head I/R Remote Control Emitter/Repeater to hook up between the 3025 and the device that you wish to control.
