Energy 5.1 Take Classic Review

Energy might not have the same kind of name recognition with the average consumer like Sony or Panasonic, but don’t discount them on branding alone. The Energy Take Classic 5.1 Speaker System is a great speaker system that shouldn’t be overlooked.

It’s true that you can find home theater packages with dedicated receivers for a lot less, but what you are paying for with the Take Classic 5.1 Speaker System are much better performing speakers. The Take Classic 5.1 Speaker System comes with five smallish sized speakers and a subwoofer. The 8 inch downward firing sub is powered by a 200 watt amp and it produces tight, deep bass, which produces a satisfyingly deep rumble when needed. While the five speakers can overdrive at high volumes, they are well suited for the needs of the average buyer and should be pleasing to most audiophiles. The Take Classic Speaker System performs well with both music and movies producing larger than expected and extremely clear sound, which is sometimes difficult to accomplish in a package offering like this. In fact, this system will outperform a lot of other systems of a comparable price range. Read the Energy 5.1 Take Classic Review »

Onkyo HT-S4100 Review

The Onkyo HT-S4100 as you may know is a home theater system. Usually comes complete with an Ipod dock. Customers claim the Onkyo HT-S4100 is preferable above the HT-SR700 because the S4100 has a more home attractive black glossy look to it.

The HT-S4100 has 5.1 channels and delivers approximately 750w of sound. 4 Composite inputs and 1 out, 2 digital optical and 2 coaxial along with the 3 component video.

It has a nice large powerful sub, which some of you know the HT’s are pretty famous with the customers as having a cheaply sub, so this is a shocking thing in itself. Read the Onkyo HT-S4100 Review »

Samsung HT-Z512T Review

The Samsung HT-Z512T is a great starter home theater system. The dvd sound quality is average, but the cd sound quality is above average. The Samsung home theater system includes an Ipod dock, but only plays 4th generation or higher Ipods and can not play any videos from the Ipod. The home theater has a 5 disc cd/dvd changer. The Samsung home theater system converts standard dvds to high definition dvds. The system has 1200 watts of power. It is XM Radio Ready.

It comes with a Anynet remote which can be used with most HDMI compatible products like televisions, camcorders, etc. The Anynet remote automatically knows the Samsung brand for easy programming. The system has wireless rear surround speakers but has to be wired to a main receiver, so it is not really wireless. It has capability to play DIVX, MP3, WMA, WMV, and JPEG files. The Samsung home theater system only comes with one USB port, one AV expansion slot, two audio only inputs, one analog stereo connection, one optical audio input, but does not have a S-Video. Overall the Samsung HT-Z512T home theater system has great cd sound, can play back on different digital medias, the only thing is that it needs more AV inputs for easier switch over to other devices.

JBL CS480BG Review

If you are looking for an all around speaker for your home entertainment system then the JBL cs480bg is by far your best choice. The versatility of this system is astounding and offers an incredible sound that you need to hear to believe. The speakers are small yet they have a punchy crisp sound that is perfect for a room that isn’t very large. The sound quality is great for all types of movies and video games and they are consistent for listening to any style of music. Just be sure that when listening to music, use a CD player rather than a DVD player and use 5 channel stereo or else it will wont sound right. It is very surprising to hear so much sound with incredible detail and deep rich bass coming out of such a small speaker. They can be compared to any of the Bose speakers as far as performance yet they are priced less and offer the same quality. JBL has always offered a great product when it comes to speakers and they have truly lived up to their reputation.

Installation is easy too. I liked the option of two sets of brackets both pivoting and fixed that are included in the system and the screw terminals are of high quality and can handle 10 gauge wire. Everything you need to install comes with the speakers, even the speaker wire, however if you are planning to use them in a bigger room, you will need to purchase more wire.

The grills are a bit cheap looking but everything else about the system is great.

JVC SXXSW6000 Review

JVC makes good products that are really long lasting, which is hard to find any more. I have a 16 year old JVC TV that works just as good as when I first bought it. That’s what made me decide to take a look at the JVC SXXSW6000.

When you consider the price of this, it really is one of the best deals to be found for the quality of the unit that you receive. I think that the sound is just really amazing. And the powered sub provides the entire extra base that is needed for the surround sound. This is just a beautiful deal. I really couldn’t ask for more, considering the price. Coby CSP94 Review

Considering what I paid for the Coby CSP94 speakers there well worth the money. If you are looking for some inexpensive speakers than these should fit the bill. I have been using them for about a month now and have found no problems with them.

For the price of $56.00 I figured there wasn’t much to loose. Because I wasn’t sure how good they might be as far as the sound quality. I wanted to add some base sound to my new flat screen TV. And to use them for watching movies and Xbox gaming, without laying out a whole bunch of money. I pretty much feel like I got a good value for the fifty six dollars. Read the Coby CSP94 Review »

Sony HT-IS100 BRAVIA Review

If you’re looking to upgrade your current speaker system to something more robust or wanting to go beyond the limitations of your display’s built in speakers, then the Sony HT-IS100 BRAVIA micro system is something you might want to consider. The unit has built in sound processing, so you don’t need to have a receiver to enjoy 5.1 surround sound. It also offers one-touch operation of any compatible Sony devices. One of the biggest selling points of this unit, aside from the all-in-one functionality, is the size of the speakers. The HT-IS100’s speakers are fantastically small, roughly the size of a golf ball, and they produce rich and full bodied sound. The unit produces 450 watts of power, which is enough for most people who don’t want to anger their neighbors.

At around seven hundred dollars, the Sony HT-IS100 BRAVIA is fairly pricey so those on a budget might want to look at other products. And while it does all the processing needed, accepts up to 3 HDMI inputs as having a Digital Media that connects to a range of optional accessories like the included iPod dock, it does have limitations over having a stand alone receiver, so you should carefully consider your needs before purchasing the Sony HT-IS100 BRAVIA micro system.
