Review of Mintek DVD players.
Mintek DVD players
. Mintek is one of several manufacturers who are trying to take advantage of our current interest in being able to watch a movie anywhere, and at any time. They only produce portable DVD players and only a few models (currently 3) are available, depending on where you shop.
Portable DVD players have much of the functionality of home players, but with miniature LCD screens (usually 5-9") allowing you to view your favorite movie in the car (hopefully not while driving), on the bus, on a flight, or sitting in the park.
I like Mintek's products because they are basic, fresh, streamlined and affordable. One drawback is that they will not fit into a home theater system as most do not provide Dolby Digital or DTS audio surround sound output. The portable DVD Mintek player range of selection is fairly limited. To see all models currently available, click to see all Mintek DVD players.

If I were to choose one Mintek DVD player to recommend above the others (which I have to because it is the purpose of this site) I would say to purchase the MDP-1810 model. It has a large 8" LCD screen, is very reasonably priced, and includes a remote control. The battery has a charge life of up to 2.5 hours, it can play DVDs, VCDs, MP3s, CD/CD-R/CD-RWs, and Kodak picture CD discs. It is capable (not as capable as some) and will provide exactly as advertised. Overall, an adequate choice.
