The Panasonic SC-PT760 home entertainment system has a lot of great features. It is a 1000 watt, 6 speaker system that has a five disc DVD/CD player along with other wonderful features. Another feature is the wireless rear speakers. Fewer wires mean less clutter. Its whisper-mode surround produces a rich sound even when the volume setting is low. It also has a 1080p up-conversion function that will take standard images from video sources and convert them to high definition images. The result is an exceptionally sharp and clear high resolution picture to enjoy. Panasonic also offers an optional kit of wireless speakers that can be placed in other rooms, so you can listen to music around the house. It has a built in Universal dock for an iPod which will enhance your video and music options.

The system includes 2 tallboy front speakers, 1 center speaker, 2 surround speakers and a Kelton subwoofer. It has Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic and DTS decoders and an integrated Universal Dock for iPod. Another great feature is the Viera link display which gives you the ability to pick movies or music that are stored on your iPod and remotely select one and begin to listen or watch that selection. The system measures 16.7” Wide x 13” Deep x 3 High and weighs 45 pounds.

Every system has an issue of some kind or another. No matter how hard manufacturers try to make the perfect system that pleases everyone, somebody will find something that could be better. This system is a great system but some reviews have said that the wireless back speakers are not completely wireless. The speakers must be wired to a wireless receiver and that is plugged into an outlet. Another issue is the volume settings; there are only four and that could be an issue for condo or apartments consumers, because the neighbors are close enough to hear even the lowest volume setting. The number of inputs is also a concern.

Nonetheless the Panasonic SC-PT760 is a fantastic system. It is easy to set up, the sound is sensational and the iPod deck is a bonus. The quality, price and performance are worth the investment. The competition in this price range include the Panasonic SC-PT660 which doesn’t have the wireless rear speakers and the SC-PT960, which has the same features as this system plus 2 tallboy tower speakers up front.

The Phillips, Samsung and Sony systems in this price range, don’t offer wireless speakers and the overall design of those systems is not as user friendly as the buttons and labels that are displayed on the Panasonic SC-PT760 model. The remote on the Panasonic system lets you adjust the volume of each speaker, but base and treble controls on the Panasonic are: Flat, Heavy, Clear and Soft, instead of the more sensitive settings of its competitors.

The bottom line is this home entertainment system is a good one. It will give you the performance you expect for the money invested, in fact it will do better than that.

The Panasonic SC-PT960 Home Theater System is a 1250 watt system that is filled with amazing features. The sound that this system produces is fantastic because of a rigid bamboo material in the center of the speakers. The Kelton subwoofer system has a dual diameter structure that gives this system a powerful bass quality that’s hard to beat. The Whisper-Mode Surround provides a rich full-bodied surround sound experience, even at low volume. Those features alone make it a great system, but there are even more super components that make this system special.

This system has the ability to convert standard 720 x 480 pixel images from DVD sources to 1920 x 1080 pixels images, which means the picture produced is a high resolution exceptionally clear image to enjoy. The wireless speaker kit for the back speakers reduces the amount of clutter. There is also a multi- room wireless speaker kit that can be purchased separately, which can expand the sound into three more rooms. That means you can listen to music in several rooms and not be concerned with a lot of wires.

Another great feature on the Panasonic SC-PT960 is the Universal Dock for your iPod. The dock charges your iPod and you can use the remote to control your iPod. It also has an on-screen audio menu and it also plays iPod video. The new Viera link displays a menu on the TV screen so it’s easy to operate the total system. You can pull up a menu that has the music and movies stored on your iPod and select and play one, using the Viera remote control unit.

The five disc DVD/CD changer can read several different disc types. The standard video DVD’s and the audio CDs are just two types that this system can read. It also has the ability to read: DVD-RAM, DVD-R/RW, VCD, DVD+R/RW, SVCD and Double Layer DVD-/+R types. This system also supports the playback of MP3, JPEG and WMA files.

The Dolby Digital Decoder, DTS Decoder, Pro-Logic Decoder and the progressive scan all give this system the ability to produce undistorted sound at any volume level. The tuner is a digital synthesized AM/FM tuner and the system has an energy star, so you can see the power you’re saving while you listen or watch your favorite CD or DVD. Let’s not forget to mention the HDMI, component video output, video output, composite video output and the audio inputs and digital audio inputs, which are all part of this system.

Every system does have cons as well as pros and this system is no different. Some reviews say that the wireless speakers aren’t really wireless because of the wireless receiver that has to be plugged into an outlet. Other consumers say that the subwoofer sounds bottomed out at volume level 2 or even 1. Some say that the front speakers have a constant buzzing sound that won’t go away.

Most of the competition in this price point does not have wireless speakers and that is a big selling point for Panasonic. The SC-PT960 and the Panasonic SC-PT 760 have wireless speakers and they do compete with each other in this market. The Samsung 720, the Sony CT100 and the Sony HT-7200DH have HDMI audio/ video capabilities and that attracts the same consumer, but price seems to be the advantage that Panasonic has over the other brands, when similar features are offered. The bottom line is: The winning combination of HDMI audio/video and wireless speakers is the most attractive system in this market, unless the price gets in the way.

The Panasonic SC-PT660 Theater System is the kind of option you might want to explore if you don’t have a lot of money, yet would like to move into the world of home theater. The SC-PT660 is Panasonic’s entry level all-in-one package that delivers quite a bit for a low price. It features a five speaker system with a subwoofer for true 5.1 surround sound. The sound quality is very good for the price you’re paying for this unit.

What separates the SC-PT660 from a lot of others in its class is that the DVD player is a five disc changer and the unit has a built-in iPod dock, allowing you to enjoy a lot of different types of media without a lot of hassle. Another nice feature is that the DVD player upscales images to 1080p. While this won’t make a DVD look as fantastic as that offered by Blu-Ray, it is much improved over a non-upscaled image.

There are a few drawbacks to the Panasonic SC-PT660. Perhaps the biggest is that it has a very limited number of inputs. If you’re looking to expand your home theater in the future, you’ll want to look at other home theater systems or consider purchasing a receiver when it meets your needs. Another drawback to the Panasonic SC-PT660 is that while it features a built in iPod dock, the video only goes through the composite video output. This is a big hassle if you’d like everything to go to your display via an HDMI cable of have limited inputs on their display.

Overall the Panasonic SC-PT660 Theater System is a great value for your dollar, but audiophiles and those looking to try to future proof their system will need to look elsewhere.

When comparing all of the great home theatre options out there, different people are undoubtedly looking for different things. Those folks who take a look at the Panasonic SC-PT660 system will immediately notice a number of important aspects of the system. Though it might seem like all sound systems are created somewhat equally, it is the little differences that are most important in terms of how happy you will be with your purchase.

Lots of things stand out about the Panasonic SC-PT660, and they start with sound quality. While many companies will put their focus on the “extra” things that they think matter, this system is one that is built to provide high quality sound. The folks at Panasonic understand that the only way to truly enjoy high quality entertainment is to have a wide range of quality audio. This means that it’s not enough to simply have a couple of good speakers and not have bass, or the inverse of that, either. That’s why this system is equipped to handle 1080p sound, and it features one of the deepest, most powerful sub-woofers in the industry. Customers rave about the depth of the sound and how it can accommodate lots of different types of media.

One of the most popular specifications on this system is its digital upgrade quality. It can help convert standard digital images to high definition, making things much more clear. In addition to that, this system features a six DVD changer, so that you don’t always have to get up to change the movie.

System Pros
There are quite a few reasons why customers buy this system, most of them having something to do with the high sound quality. Most customers cite the powerful sub-woofer, as it helps provide great sound for both movies and for music around the house. In addition to that, this system features an iPod dock, so that you can play the music right from your mp3 player. This really helps to make the system complete and versatile, so that you can get all of your media needs all in one place.

Another pro of the system is the included wireless feature. You can utilize wireless speaker technology, giving you the ability to hear music in different rooms without the messy wires and setup.

In talking to customers, one of the biggest pros of this system is the price. You are getting a ton of sound quality for the money you’ll pay, making this a value of sorts when compared to other products in the market.

System Cons
One of the cons of the Panasonic SC-PT660 is it comes with one of the most complicated remote controls you will find. The buttons are difficult to find and it seems a little bit too bulky for its own good. This is a minor problem that will take some getting used to, and it can turn into a positive, as the complicated remote gives you the power to control more things without having to use more than one controller.

Customers have also found the entire system itself to be a little bit difficult in terms of setup. Luckily, the Panasonic support team has been very good at making sure people understand what they are doing and in helping them with their concerns.

All in all, this system is something of an upgrade over previously technology, but it could be looked upon as a transition system. It incorporates some aspects of new technology, but could certainly be improved upon. The wireless technology is a big time aspect that will make many customers happy.
