Best DVD players review.

Best DVD players. If I had to choose the best DVD player out there on the market today it would have to have multiple features and capabilities that are almost necessary with today's available technology. Now all of this does not mean it would have to be the most expensive. I can guarantee the most expensive DVD player on the market today is not the "best". Either in terms of video quality or audio quality.

Firstly, it would have to be able to provide Dolby Digital and DTS decoding capabilities. These two formats are the current standard for multi-channel sound. Teamed with a home theater receiver which could process these two audio formats will allow for the highest quality digital sound available today.

Secondly, the best DVD players would be progressive scan units which provide higher quality images necessary for any high definition television (HDTV). Conventional non HD-ready TVs also display marginally better video images when fed signals from a progressive scan DVD player.

Thirdly, the best choice would have to be able to handle all current media formats including DVDs (of course), CDs, CD-Rs, CD-RWs, but also DVD-audio discs, DVD-Rs, DVD-RWs, and as an added bonus Super Audio CDs (SACD). On any CD format the best unit would also be able to playback MP3 files. This would allow this unit to stand in for a CD player as well, capable of playing homemade CD compilations with a computer CD burner drive.

Fourthly, the best DVD player choice would have to have all modern connectivity standards including S-video output, as well as optical and coaxial audio outputs. Component video output would also allow increased video quality desireable for HDTV hookup.

Fifthly, it would have to be from a brand I trust with a reasonable warranty (often 1 or more years). Also, repair history would have to be acceptable and manufacturer customer service would have to be excellent.

Lastly, the best DVD players are those which are user friendly, and have easy to understand controls and remote. If you can't understand how to setup and use your DVD player properly, without routinely referring to the 400-page manual, you likely will not enjoy it and have it perform as it is able.

My pick for the best DVD players comes down to two choices. I won't call it an exact draw between the two. Both certainly are not equal. What the two will provide though is excellent brand-backed performance history and all of the features necessary to take advantage of today's audio and video capabilities.

Best DVD Player Pick #1 - The Sony DVP-NS725P DVD/CD/MP3 Player. It meets every criteria I have mentioned above. Plus it is very reasonably priced. Compared with low end models it is not much more expensive, but unlike them it meets all current home theater industry standards. It's other features are too numerous to mention here. Go take a look for yourself.

Best DVD Player Pick #2 - The Panasonic DMR-E50K. Like the Sony model pick #1, this model is fully loaded and comes from another industry leader, Panasonic. It is recording model. Again, it is very reasonably priced.

You can not go wrong with either of these models. Both will lead you to the front of the pack.
